THE GIFT OF TIME

Volunteer with us at Cornwall Hospice Care

Volunteer with us

We have many hundreds of volunteers who support our services, they are at the heart of our Cornish charity, and we simply couldn’t manage without them. Our volunteers come from across Cornwall offering their skills and precious support across a wide range of different activities.

Volunteer at our hospices…

Our hospice reception volunteers provide a reassuring, warm welcome into our hospices, and our ward volunteers help create a calm and relaxing environment for our patients and their families.

…or in our shops and donation centres

Donation Centre volunteers meticulously process and sort donated items, and our Retail volunteers ensure members of our community receive excellent customer service. These are just some of the roles you could enjoy by giving the gift of your time – find out about all our volunteering opportunities below. All volunteers help us provide the highest possible level of care for our patients and their families and carers, whether directly at our hospices or helping to fund care through our shops and fundraising events.

Why volunteer?

Volunteering is good for you! It can improve your mental health and well-being, give you a sense of purpose, boost your self-esteem, increase confidence, and provide opportunities to connect with others.

Are you someone who has retired, is seeking a new direction and wants to feel stimulated or just to get out of the house? We can help you find a role to suit your life skills.

Are you considering a new career or want to gain some experience and develop a range of new skills? We can offer role-specific training and the opportunity to learn those fundamental principles for the workplace, such as excellent teamwork,  great communication and problem-solving skills.

Giving your gift of time when you volunteer with us at Cornwall Hospice Care is one of the most enjoyable and rewarding things you can do.

Volunteering is fun and fulfilling, and the impact can make a massive difference to the patients and families in our community and you too!

We are an inclusive charity and aim to create a positive work environment where everyone is treated with respect and dignity so that everyone feels valued for their contribution.

“If you have a few hours a week to spare and want to volunteer for a really worthwhile charity, then come and join me and all the other volunteers… and test out my theory that thanks are more rewarding than a pay packet.”  Mike, Hospice Reception Volunteer.

Young volunteers

Are you on a Duke of Edinburgh programme, or a student interested in gaining a sense of achievement and pride from giving your time to a local charity?

When you volunteer with us you can build life skills and enhance your personal statement for college or university applications, and you can include it on your CV when applying for jobs. Volunteering allows you to try different things and helps promote independence whilst gaining knowledge and understanding of the work environment.
