Why support Cornwall Hospice Care this Christmas
“You hear the word hospice, and you think oh that’s end of life, it’s quite a scary word and as much as I thought it was a great idea, I had a lot of anxiety surrounding it.
From the second I walked through the hospice doors I was so well cared for and supported. My family joined me, so every step of the first day my partner and my daughters were involved. They worked through my care plans with me, meeting the doctors, nurses, the whole hospice team and felt involved in the whole process of my admission.
All the anxieties that we’d felt beforehand by the end of the first day had completely gone out of the window and we just felt so at ease, it just feels like family there.
With the support of the hospice team, the medications, the Physio, the Occupational Therapist, they managed to get me to a level where, although I wasn’t completely pain free, I could go to my little brother’s big day.
Honestly, without the equipment and care, it just wouldn’t have been the same day whatsoever and I wouldn’t have been able to enjoy it and have the memories that we have today.
I’m so grateful, and my family are so grateful for everything they’ve given us.
If I have to go back again, I’ll be packed in seconds, a very important thing especially when you’re going through a cancer diagnosis like myself.”
