Light Up A Life

Remembering those we love and celebrating their lives

Remembering is our way of keeping strong the connection, taking time to pause and think about those family and friends who are no longer with us and the times we have shared. Our Light Up A Life service is an opportunity to join with others who know how you are feeling whilst marking the memory of our departed loved ones.

Our Light Up A Life Service at Truro Cathedral

This service is an invitation to join with others who know how we are feeling whilst marking the memory of those we have loved but are no longer with us.

During our Light Up A Life service, we will have the opportunity to light a candle in memory of those dear to us. The soft glow of these candles will fill the cathedral with a warm and comforting light, symbolising the enduring love we hold for our departed loved ones.

Your Dedication of Remembrance

Our special Light Up A Life Books of Remembrance serve as a beautiful tribute to the love and impact they had on your life.

You can leave a dedication, and the names of your loved ones will be published and displayed at Truro Cathedral, Mount Edgcumbe Hospice and St Julia’s Hospice as well as making them available online. During this year’s service, the books held at Truro Cathedral will be brought forward to be blessed and available to view after the service.

Throughout the Light Up A Life service, our Dedication Film will play, projecting the names of all our loved ones, held up in light. Together, we will create a touching and unforgettable evening as we celebrate each and every life being remembered.

Our online copy of our Books of Remembrance can be found at the bottom of this page and are filed in the order of the surname of the person(s) making the dedication.

Light Up A Life – Frequently asked questions

You can make your dedications for Light Up A Life in 2 main ways.  Firstly, if you’ve taken part in the last few years, you’ll be sent out an invitation to take part this year, with a form to complete and return to us in the post.

Alternatively, if you prefer (or you’re new to Light Up A Life) you can complete your dedications securely online on this website page.

If you have problems with either of these two methods though, please do call our Fundraising Office on 01726 66868 option 3 and the team will be happy to help.

Yes there is.  If you’d like your dedications to be included in the film we show of all dedications at Truro Cathedral, we need to have received your dedication by 5pm on Monday 2nd December 2024.

Dedications received after this will be added to our Books of Remembrance as soon as we are able to include them.

Our Books of Remembrance will be on display for the Light Up A Life service at Truro Cathedral on Sunday 8th December and there will be time after the service has finished to view your dedications.  Those books will remain at Truro Cathedral for the week following the service.

Books of Remembrance can also be viewed at both Mount Edgcumbe Hospice, St Austell and St Julia’s Hospice, Hayle following the service and will remain available until the end of January.

We also have an online copy of the Books of Remembrance which can be viewed here on this webpage when available.

There is no obligation to attend the service at Truro Cathedral in person, although if you are able to attend we hope that the service provides you with some peace and comfort as you remember your loved ones.

If you prefer, each year we are fortunate to be able to livestream the service from the Cathedral thanks to their team and equipment.  This livestream can be viewed from 7pm on the evening of the service on this webpage and is recorded so can be watched back at a time convenient to you.
