Join us and hundreds of other cyclists for a challenging but enjoyable day in the saddle to help us fund the care.

We are delighted to once again be hosting our event at the stunning Prideaux Place in Padstow, the perfect backdrop to start a day’s cycling, and what’s more, your supporters are invited to join us to see you off as well as welcoming you home at the finish line!

As in previous years there are multiple routes to choose, depending on your cycling ability.  Each of our routes feature some of the best views that Cornwall has to offer. With options from the Inspiring 20 miles up to the Extreme 104 miles, there’s something to challenge everyone.

We are so grateful to this year’s TITLE Sponsor, Clive Mitchell Cycles, and EVENT sponsors Suez Cornwall and Brookland Sand & Aggregate for their support again this year.

About the Coast and Clay Sportive

Our Coast and Clay Sportive is well supported, with fully stocked feed and water stations, a 4×4 support team and full medical cover, there’s no easier or more enjoyable way to tackle a challenge like it. The event is not a race, but is chip timed for your accurate completion time, and all participants will receive a coveted Cornwall Hospice Care medal!

Online registration has now closed. We are delighted to be able to offer on the day sign ups- please see our Rider Briefing for full information including when to arrive to register and wave release times.

Our Coast and Clay Sportive Sponsors

We are delighted to welcome back our TITLE sponsor for 2024 – Clive Mitchell Cycles.

As in previous years they will provide mechanical support at Event HQ before you set off and at their Summercourt shop where they’ve kindly agreed to host our feed station again.

With over 40 years of experience Clive Mitchell Cycles really is the premier Cornish bike store.  They cater for all aspects of cycling from children’s bikes to electric bikes and a huge range of accessories and parts, they have something to offer to every kind of rider. With two sites to offer in Cornwall, one located conveniently off the A30 at Summercourt, and the other in the centre of Truro, both provide pure bike bliss.  For all your cycling needs, Clive Mitchell Cycles have you covered!

We are equally excited to announce the return of EVENT sponsors, Suez and Brookland Sand & Aggregates.

Suez are supporting the event for the 4th year and we are looking forward to welcoming a team of SUEZ cyclists enter the sportive as well as their friendly faces supporting our Mount Edgcumbe feed station, keeping our Extreme Route participants fuelled!

Brookland are also in the 4th year of supporting this event, and will be running a feedstation for our Extreme and Epic route participants at their own premises which our route conveniently passes through! They will keep you fuelled and hydrated and will give you a smile and a cheer at the top of one of our famous Cornish hills!

Can you take part in the Coast and Clay Sportive 2024? Yes you can!

Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or this is your first event on a bike, one of the Coast and Clay Sportive routes will be achievable for you!

Perhaps last year you conquered our Inspire route and are now ready to attempt the 45 mile challenge, or maybe this is the fundraising challenge you have chosen to give back to your local hospice and have never done anything like it before. Either way – with the right training – this is achievable for everyone.

Coast and Clay Sportive Route Maps

Please click the relevant link for a detailed map of each route.

Extreme – 104 miles – not for the faint hearted, this route will take you across the full width of Cornwall from Padstow on the North Coast to St Austell on the South and everywhere in between! With over 8,500 feet of elevation this route will really test you! With the right training you can do it, and imagine how proud you will feel as you cross the finish line.

Epic – 73 miles – this route, although shorter than our Extreme route still has it’s ups and downs – quite literally! We recommend giving this challenge the training it deserves but guarantee if you do, you will thank us for it later!

Challenge – 45 miles – this route certainly lives up to it’s namesake. It will challenge you but is 100% achievable with the right mindset and a commitment to training. With a respectable 3,650 feet of elevation don’t think of this as an easy option!

Inspire – 20 miles – if you are new to cycling, the world of sportives or just looking for a family friendly challenge, this could be the route for you. With spectacular scenery, the right level of challenge for all ages and a healthy dose of elevation (1700 feet in fact) what’s not to love?

Why support Cornwall Hospice Care?

Cornwall Hospice Care runs the only 2 adult hospices in Cornwall – Mount Edgcumbe in St Austell and St Julia’s in Hayle. With limited funding, we rely on the support of our fantastic community and people taking part in our events like the Coast and Clay Sportive and raising sponsorship to fund 83% of our care.

It takes 5 minutes to set up a JustGiving page and share it with your friends and family, it really is that simple to make a difference to your local adult hospice nurses and keep them caring. What are you waiting for? Sign up to JustGiving here.

Every £24 you raise will fund one hour of nursing care in our hospices. The registration fee covers the costs of this event, but by raising sponsorship you will enable us to care for more terminally ill people in Cornwall. Just £100 raised will earn you a complementary Cornwall Hospice Care technical cycling jersey!

In 2024 you can make a difference and keep our nurses caring.

If you prefer to fundraise the traditional way you can access our downloadable fundraising pack and sponsorship form here to get yourself started.

For all cyclists sponsorship is optional, if you are unable to raise sponsorship at this time, please consider making a donation here.
