Sunday 27th April 2025
If you are interested in joining our team in London, please fill out our application form, telling us why you want to run for us. The closing date for applications is Thursday 11th July 2024 at midday.
If you are one of the lucky ones, and have secured a place in the public ballot but would still like to fundraise for us, please get in touch with Jane, who will add you to the Team! You will receive the same perks as our Gold Bond runners – we’d love to hear from you!
Don’t miss out on the chance to complete this marathon with the support of our dedicated team. Whether you have concerns about fundraising, training or race day logistics, Cornwall Hospice Care have been supporting teams of runners in the London Marathon for many years and can answer any questions you might have.
We offer our London Marathon team a complimentary place in our very own Run Falmouth Half Marathon. The perfect training run and a great opportunity to meet the rest of #TeamCHC.
You will receive one of our personalised technical running vests to wear with pride. Show the world who you are supporting and look the part too!
We also offer a welcome meet and technical evening and support in a private social media group where you can get to know others in the team!
We offer our team of runners meet and greet and technical evenings with members of our fundraising team and the local running community – our fundraisers are armed with loads of advice to max out your fundraising potential, plus advice from running experts who will ensure you reach the start line in tip top condition!
There are various Hospice UK cheer points along the route – look out for us at one of these on race day! We let our runners know ahead of race day where we will be and will be sure to shout lots of encouragement to you as you go by. Friends and family are welcome to join us at the cheer points too.
You are also invited to a post-race reception at a Hospice UK hospitality venue after your race to refuel and rejuvenate – there you can take advantage of a massage to help your aching muscles and grab a bite to eat. Friends and family are also welcome to join you at the hospitality venue for a hot drink.
Our successful Golden Bond applicants will commit to fundraising a minimum target of £2000.
We know it can be daunting but we will be with you every step of the way to ensure you reach this target and beyond!
Setting up a fundraising page is very easy – we prefer to use JustGiving as our online platform as more of the money comes to us! We have a dedicated London Marathon JustGiving campaign (please use the buttons on this page to go there) it only takes a couple of minutes to set up, and a share to social media is worth an average of £24!
Yes! We welcome ‘own place’ runners each year and you will receive the same perks as our Golden Bond applicants, including one of our vibrant running vests – plus you have the added bonus of setting your own fundraising target!
Please email Jane if you have been lucky enough to secure a place in the Public Ballot and let her know you wish to run for us. She will be add you to the Team and get in touch regarding your running vest and any support you may need.
Can I do it?
YES – you can! A good level of fitness is required to complete the London Marathon but whatever your ability, with the right training you can achieve your London Marathon goal!
Can I still apply through the Public Ballot?
You can apply for one of our Gold Bond places and also in the TCS London Marathon public ballot. If you are lucky enough to get a Public Ballot place we would love to welcome you to the team and still offer all the same perks and benefits as we do to our Gold Bond runners so please get in touch if you are lucky enough to be successful in the Public Ballot!
I’m concerned about the fundraising element!
Fundraising can seem like a daunting task, but once you tell your friends and family what you are doing, you’ll be surprised how keen they are to donate to the cause and show their support. Simply sharing your JustGiving page to social media can be a super effective way of fundraising.
We have a dedicated team of fundraisers on hand to support you and give advice on any fundraising events you might want to do. Quiz nights, bake sales, duck races and raffles are just some of the simple yet effective ways people have raised their London Marathon sponsorship in previous years. Get in touch to see how we can help.
