Support us with an inspirational overseas adventure!

Are you looking for a challenge, to travel, and more importantly fund amazing care in Cornwall? Do you fancy taking on one of the top 10 trekking trails in the world? Take a look at the breathtaking Inca Trail Trek challenge via Global Adventure Challenges.

Want to know more about the Inca Trail Trek?

Inca Trail Trek! There are literally thousands of Inca Trails within Peru and many other charity events sound similar, but there’s only one Inca Trail that leads through the majestic Sun Gate, and then onto the fascinating ruins of Machu Picchu. Your Cornwall Hospice Care challenge begins in the Inca Capital of Cusco – a fascinating city, full of colonial charm hidden deep in the Andes Mountains. Exceptional support and companionship await – from the porters and chefs through the medics and guides, you’ll be in great hands with superior support in reaching your goal!

This classic Inca Trail encompasses 3 high mountain passes – the highest being 4,200m. The trek will be tough and will certainly test you, but upon witnessing the sight of Machu Picchu through the Sun Gate, mirrored with breathtaking views across the Andes, your efforts are more than worthwhile. Conquering the one and only Inca Trail to Machu Picchu – the world’s most important archaeological find and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World!

Frequently asked questions about Inca Trail Trek

How do I go about raising the sponsorship?

Once you have signed up you will receive a fundraising pack from Cornwall Hospice Care in order to make your fundraising as easy as possible. A great way to get started is by setting up a Just Giving page, but if you have any further questions our fundraising team are always on hand to help. You will also receive a few tips and ideas from Global Adventure Challenges to steer you in the right direction.

Is there a minimum participant requirement?

Yes, a minimum of 16 participants need to enter the challenge for it to go ahead.

How fit do I need to be?

This challenge has been graded as Tough (2) on our challenge grading scheme meaning the trek has been designed to be challenging but achievable as long as you train beforehand. You will be trekking for 5 consecutive days, and at high altitude and in varied temperatures, a good cardiovascular fitness is required – the fitter you are the more you will enjoy the challenge! We will provide you with a full training guide once you register, this is also available to download via our website. Why not join one of our challenge training weekends – it’s a great opportunity for you to meet our team and other challengers, and train together prior to the event.

What happens if I get tired?

There will be regular rest stops for drinks and snacks – there is no problem with you taking more rest stops should you need them. A guide will be bringing up the rear of the group ensuring no one is left alone. Remember this is not a race! The main physical problem you may encounter is altitude sickness, which can occur over 2,500m – the maximum altitude on this challenge is approx. 4,200m.

Do I need specialist kit?

We will supply you with a kit list of what to take once you register to take part. Apart from broken in trekking boots, some trekking poles and a good quality sleeping bag you do not need any specialist kit.
