The Rotary Club of St Austell Bay are proud to be supporting Cornwall Hospice Care and Merlin MS Centre with this year’s Cornish Alpine Cycle Challenge on Sunday 13th July 2025.
2025 will be the fifth time that this challenging event will be taking place and the Rotary Club of St Austell Bay has teamed up with their sponsors to make the Cornish Alpine Cycle Challenge one of the most challenging non competitive off road cycling experiences in the South West.
Cornish Alpine Cycle Challenge Routes
On this year’s Cornish Alpine Cycle Challenge there will be three courses of 12, 25 and 50 miles, set to test any rider’s stamina.
The routes are mainly off road in the safety of cycle trails , some of them not normally open to the public. Enjoy the clay country – known as the Cornish Alps – at the heart of Cornwall.
The 12 mile route is ideal for those starting out on off road cycling. Giving you a tough challenge, this course can also include all of the family, advisable for capable children. There are hilly sections and some on road sections linking trails. You will cycle to the Eden Project and back. All competitors will receive a Bronze finishing medal at the end of the route.
The 25 mile route is a challenging 25 mile course that goes to the heart of the Cornish Alps – you will go to one of the highest peaks in clay country, with views across the county, from coast to coast. You will need to be fit as this will test your stamina and strength. All competitors will receive a Silver finishing medal at the end of the route. There will be a water station half way round where you can fill up your water bottles, please bring your own bottles.
The 50 mile route will be taking in parts of both the 12 and 25 mile route with an extra 25 miles. You will be going out to the Goss Moor Nature Reserve and have a stop at one of the sponsors Amped Cycles at Indian Queens. This should be a challenging ride for all levels of riders and be an enjoyable day. Feed stations with drinks will be available around the route. There is a water station at the Eden Project, this will allow you to fill up your water bottle and why not use the facilities of the Eden Project?
