SUPPORT US

Send your festive wishes to our hospice teams this Christmas

Let our hospice teams know how much they mean to you!

A simple thank you goes a long way

Our teams provide end of life care to our patients at our hospices and out in the community 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We really get to know our patients and their families, developing strong bonds and we always go the extra mile so we can to help them make every day matter.

At the heart of our care is a team of medical staff who specialise in the kind of care that will make you as comfortable as possible when staying with us. We know people find this round-the-clock expertise comforting because it is on hand and delivered one-to-one to suit your requirements.

Alongside our medical staff all our teams will be working hard behind the scenes this Christmas. Each hospice has its own chef and kitchen team who’ll cater to your needs and offer ‘a little of what you fancy’, with daily breakfast, lunch and supper choices to tempt you.

By showing your appreciation and sending your festive wishes for those who work in our beautiful hospices, you’ll be giving our teams the extra boost they need this Christmas time, as they help families make lasting memories together.

How to take part in our Festive Wishes appeal

Simply use the pink box below and write your festive well wish today to be seen by all our teams working over the festive period.

Creating a caring environment this Christmas

It takes special people to make our hospices the caring places they are. Nursing staff, doctors, housekeepers, administrators, therapists, counsellors, volunteers and chefs all work together to benefit our patients and their families. We share some of the most precious times in the lives of those we care for, making every day matter.

Your support will help make our hospices feel like a home from home for those staying with us over the festive period.

  • Our Community Service Teams: offering support, practical advice, information and treatment for people living with a palliative/terminal illness or deteriorating progressive disease and their carer. As well as bereavement support following the death of a loved one, working alongside you to normalise upsetting emotions and offer helpful strategies to assist you in navigating your grief.
  • Our Therapy Teams: providing symptom management, providing strategies and techniques to cope with your condition and helping prepare patients and those close to them for discharge. They will also assist with advance care planning, providing support for patients and loved ones as they cope with the reality of their situation.
  • Our Little Bags of Kindness: given to patients discharged from Mount Edgcumbe and St Julia’s hospices and also to bereaved loved ones returning home.  Each bag is designed to comfort those returning home when perhaps you haven’t had the opportunity to get to the shops.

Why support Cornwall Hospice Care

“We were overwhelmed by the care and support mum received during her brief time at the hospice. Everything from her arrival and settling in to the kind and gentle manner in which her final hours were handled was exemplary.

All the staff and volunteers we met, at reception, in the kitchen and those responsible for mum’s medical, nursing and caring needs were thoughtful, tactful and professional. Their professionalism and caring attitude meant that what is inevitably a traumatic time was transformed into a relaxing and comfortable ending to mum’s life. Every effort was made to ensure that she was pain free and not in distress.

Similarly, our own needs were very well looked after, and it was noticeable that we were given the time and support to process what was going on. We are so glad that a bed was found for mum at the hospice and cannot praise the team, and the hospice itself, too highly. Thank you so much.
